The Geography Education Research Special Interest Group (GERSIG) supports the geography education community to access, use and take part in geography education research.
GERSIG was established in 2022, emerging from the Geography Education Working Group (GERWG). Annually at the
GA Annual Conference, GERSIG members run writing workshop sessions, with support of colleagues from
Teaching Geography, Primary Geography and
Geography editorial boards.
Each year the group also support the GA’s Conference Planning Board by reviewing ‘Reporting Research’ sessions for Conference. The group have proactively encouraged and supported submissions of sessions, with consideration to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and support for student teachers/ early career teachers/ researchers.
